My Year in Music – May 2026

It’s that time of the year again! Everything goes a little rainbow coloured and you know we love the rainbow around here. To my dearest theys, gays and gentlebaes who are celebrating that love is love, I am so proud of you for being your most authentic self and true to who you are. To those who, for whatever reason cannot, celebrate this month, it will get easier. This too shall pass. If you haven’t heard it today, I am proud of you and you are a wonderful human being worthy of all the love and acceptance in the world. To those who aren’t accepted, you are now! I am your auntie now and I accept you. So go out there, give ’em hell and have fun. You deserve it. And if needs be, it’ll be our little secret 😉

In life, there’s no such thing as a mistake. Just happy little accidents and those accidents place us on the right path towards where we need to be. You are here for a purpose and that makes you the most important person in your story. There is no one else that can do what you do quite the same way as you do it. You are unique. One of a kind so start acting like it. Be you. Be loud. Be soft. Be gentle. Be smart. Be sassy. Just be. Remember: If someone says you can’t do something, do it anyway and take pictures. Anyway, it is time to give you all what you’ve been waiting for: a monthly playlist AND a playlist of the year so far.

May 1: Take Five – The Dave Brubeck Quartet (This started a whole discussion about where I’d heard it before. It was ‘Sing’. It was being played by a mouse XD)
May 2:Accidentally in Love – Counting Crows (It does happen from time to time but isn’t it so easy to do)
May 3: When You Look At Me – Christina Milian (Because I’m curious, what DO you see? There have been more than a few words used to describe me)
May 4: Go the Distance – Luke Brady (West End boy’s got pipes! And he sounds even better live! from, Sighing at the End of ‘I Won’t Say I’m In Love’ in the 4th row xoxo bye bye Wonderboy.)
May 5: I Ain’t Worried – One Republic ( Look up the songs affiliated with Ryan Tedder, he’s done everything! Now say ‘Thank you, Ryan’)
May 6: Mercy – Duffy (Aka Dancing Queen by SNSD/Girls’ Generation and it’s a banger in both languages)
May 7: Heartpick – CIIU (Because it’s cute and catchy and we support our own here in Ireland)
May 8: Soft Spot – keshi (We all have soft spots~)
May 9: Payphone (feat. Wiz Khalifa) – Maroon 5 (I still know all the words even though I don’t remember learning them)
May 10: Water – Tyla & Marshmello
May 11: Thong Song (Choir Version) – Uché (Because what’s better than the original? The gospel Version!)
May 12: Point of View – DB Boulevard (Consider things from another point of view. Easier said than done but I spend a lot of time doing it anyway)
May 13: You Get What You Give – New Radicals (Some people call that Karma. I call it getting even O:) )
May 14: Clint Eastwood – Gorillaz & Del The Funky Homosapien (Sunshine in a bag is such an odd concept but still makes you think…)
May 15: Three Little Birds – Bob Marley & the Wailers (Because we need some mellow vibes to counteract such a hectic month)
May 16: Only Time – Enya (And breathe…. in through the nose and out through the mouth. Unclench your jaw, have a drink of water. Stretch. You’ve got time)
May 17: You Can’t Hurry Love – Phil Collins (It’s a game of give and take)
May 18: I Love It I Love It I Love It – Bella Kay (Blaaaake… her name reminds my brother of the Key & Peele High school Substitute Teacher skit. Ya done messed up, A.A.Ron!)
May 19: drop dead – Olivia Rodrigo (Me stalking people on the internet? Whaaaat? Never)
May 20: _WORLD – SEVENTEEN (For no reason whatsoever, this song got stuck in my head. Come into my world)
May 21: Saturday Night – Whigfield (Not nearly enough 90s pop in this playlist so we’re rectifying that post haste!
May 22: Opalite – Taylor Swift (Dancing through the lightning strikes, hoping the skies become opalite sooner rather than later)
May 23: GDFR – Flo Rida (feat. Sage the Gemini & LooKas) (I knew something was coming and Look! I WAS RIGHT!)
May 24: Like a Prayer – Madonna (Because sometimes all you have is a hope and a prayer and it works!)
May 25: Just Pretend – Bad Omens (I’m that person who waits for you at the bottom or the top. It doesn’t matter to me. I’ll be there.)
May 26: Hot in Herre – Nelly (It is just a little toasty. Can someone turn down the sun just a smidge?)
May 27: Believe – Cher (I’m tryin’ Cher! ㅠㅠ)
May 28: Where Have You Been – Rihanna (No, seriously, where HAVE you been? Do you need a map to get here?)
May 29: Make it up to you – Big Ocean (the cutest way to apologise for something. See? Some guys can do it right)
May 30: São Paulo – The Weeknd & Anitta (Temptation and desire in a romance language? Whatever you say, darling. I agree. Portuguese is sexy!)
May 31: Fun, Fun, Fun – Pharrell Williams (Because it’s going to be June soon and that gives me free reign and insanity with lots of fun included!)

And just like that, we’re in June. We only get busier from here but we have to learn that it’s okay to say no to things that do not serve us. Especially in June. Be a menace, be carefree. But, first, do no harm and then don’t get caught. Have fun ^,^ OkayIloveyougoodbye!
