This month was weird. Oh yeah, hi. Welcome to My Year in Music and stuff. ANYWAY, this month was weird. Time both dragged and flew by. I had good luck but also no luck and I got some freedom but I’m also stuck in the same place doing the same thing everyday. I wanted quietness and the chance to relax but, now that I have it, I feel useless. Welcome to the Terms & Conditions you never read (unless you’re Niamh)! Where everything you want, you get but with a condition attached. But I suppose that’s just another thing that I have to learn: How to just stop and relax without feeling guilty or lazy. Then again, perhaps this all points to the very obvious fact that I’ve been running on empty for way too long and, at this point, I don’t know how to stop.
Well, I suppose one thing that I can do and it might make me feel a little more productive and a little less lazy is provide you all with a playlist for the year so far and this month too. Yeah, I think that counts as productive. Now – ahem – LET’S F*CKING GO!
Aug 1: We R Who We R – Kesha (Why be anyone else? Better to be the worst version of yourself than a clone of someone else)
Aug 2: Love U Like That – Lauv (Imagine someone loving every aspect of who you are and what you do without even thinking. Now that’s true love)
Aug 3: Kiss Me More (feat. SZA) – Doja Cat (This song just scratched the itch in my brain)
Aug 4: Bad – ATEEZ (Choi San…That’s the note.)
Aug 5: Invisible Touch – Genesis (Can I explain it? No. No, I cannot but who doesn’t love a good Phil Collins bop)
Aug 6: august – Taylor Swift (august in August….groundbreaking….That is all.)
Aug 7: In Too Deep – Sum 41 (Running in circles again? Yeah but the problem with a circle is you can’t figure out where it starts and where it ends so did you in fact run in a full circle or did you run more than a full circle? Hmm)
Aug 8: (You Drive Me) Crazy – Britney Spears (Now, is that good crazy or bad crazy?)
Aug 9: WET – J.Y. Park (It’s been stuck in my brain. Traitorous brain! It has betrayed me! H.E.L.P. M.E.!)
Aug 10: Telephone (feat. Beyonce) – Lady Gaga (Me when I turn the notification volume up on my phone. Stop making noise!)
Aug 11: A-Punk – Vampire Weekend (The intro music got stuck in my brain on loop and it took me forever to figure out what the song was called and where I’d heard it. Still trying to figure out where I heard it though)
Aug 12: Live Your Life (feat. Rihanna) – T.I. (Just live your life. It’s better that way. More fun too.)
Aug 13: Diva – Beyonce
Aug 14: Leave (Get Out) – JoJo (Ah yes, please leave. Don’t let the doorknob hit you on the way out)
Aug 15: Flashdance…What a Feeling – Irene Cara
Aug 16: Closer – Ne-Yo
Aug 17: What Do You Mean? – Justin Bieber (Speak plainly or just don’t speak to me at all. Simple.)
Aug 18: Circus – Britney Spears (Because some people just want to put on a show and others are just clowns.)
Aug 19: Fire – 2NE1
Aug 20: Until I Found You – Stephen Sanchez
Aug 21: Holiday – Green Day (They may take out lives, but they’ll never take our freedom!)
Aug 22: Be My Baby – The Ronettes
Aug 23: Training Season – Dua Lipa (Manifestation mantra. This is what I need not what I want. What I NEED)
Aug 24: Me and the Devil – Soap&Skin
Aug 25: Jolene – Dolly Parton (“Well, honey, nobody knows what’s around the corner, but I know one thing, if you keep yourself out of the game for fear of losing, there is no way on earth you’re gonna win!” Rest in rhinestones, Ms. Dolly. You were a rare diamond amongst so much coal on this earth.)
Aug 26: Sweet Transvestite – Tim Curry (What can I say? You were simply ‘smashing’ and one hell of a muppet. Another great gone from the world.)
Aug 27: New Divide – Linkin Park (Optimus Prime it was always a privilege to hear you give us some of the greatest and wisest lessons we, as people, needed to learn. Thank you Peter Cullen for bringing some truly wonderful characters to life. We will always need an Optimus and sometimes we need Eeyores too)
Aug 28: It’s Raining Men – The Weather Girls (From a different perspective, one could say let the bodies hit the floor, I suppose.)
Aug 29: Heaven (Classic Version) – Bryan Adams (Because sometimes the original is better than the remix)
Aug 30: Self Aware – Temper City
Aug 31: Way Out – Stray Kids (Did you really think a new SKZ mini album would drop and I wouldn’t include a song from it? Really? Do you even know me?)
I know this month didn’t have as many comments on my song choices but I promise I’ll fix it for next month. OkayIloveyougoodbye!
