My Year In Music – January 2022

New Year, New M…y Year in Music playlists! I could have said me but I know for a fact I’m going to be the same person that I was last year. January was actually an okay start to the year and we’ll hope we continue in an upward trend for the rest of 2022.

This year I’m going to try to include lots of new songs that haven’t appeared in the previous two MYIM playlists which should be fun and a little bit challenging. I mean, there’s more than 600 songs to avoid at this point; reusing songs is inevitable. I’m also going to try to include more explanations for my choices if I can. I feel really lucky that I get to do this every year and I really hope you all enjoy it too.

From all of us here at OMG, we also want to wish everyone who celebrated yesterday a very prosperous and happy Lunar New Year. Enjoy the Year of the Tiger! So, without further ado, we have a new 2022 playlist and a January 2022 playlist on Spotify (which are the same at the moment but not for long) and a lovely new playlist on YouTube too. Here we go again!

Jan 1: Start From Scratch – The Game (New year, new list.)

Jan 2: Alane – Wes (When my brother says the lyrics sound like small man in Tallaght and I can’t unhear it now)

Jan 3: HUMBLE. – Kendrick Lemar (We all know that one person)

Jan 4: Surface Pressure – Encanto Soundtrack (We may not talk about Bruno but this song deserves more recognition.)

Jan 5: Last One Standing – Skylar Grey, Polo G, Mozzy & Eminem

Jan 6: All About You – Mc Fly (If some one wrote a song like this about me I’d marry them in an instant)

Jan 7: When I’m Gone – Alesso & Katy Perry

Jan 8: Ca Plane Pour Moi – Plastic Bertrand (I don’t know what it means but it’s fun.)

Jan 9: Wherever You Will Go – The Calling

Jan 10: good 4 u – Olivia Rodrigo (I mean good for you mate but why do you look like you rolled in cheeto dust?)

Jan 11: Where Are You Now – Lost Frequencies & Calum Scott

Jan 12: If I Die Young – The Band Perry (It’s a scary day when a young woman can’t go for a run)

Jan 13: Louder Than Words – Andrew Garfield, Vanessa Hudgens & Joshua Henry (Because we’re living in the Andrew Garfield Renaissance and I love it!)

Jan 14: Run It – DJ Snake, Rick Ross & Rich Brian

Jan 15: Stay, Stay, Stay (Taylor’s Version) – Taylor Swift (It’s the ‘It’s so fun’ and the laugh at the end that gets me every time)

Jan 16: Falling – HAIM (HAIM rhymes with rhyme not aim.)

Jan 17: Elenor Rigby – Cody Fry

Jan 18: Don’t Go Yet – Camilla Cabello (When it gets lodged in your brain for nearly a week you know it has to be included)

Jan 28: Peanut Butter Jelly – Galantis

Jan 29: Shut Up and Dance – Walk the Moon
