My Year In Music – June 2025

It’s all eyes to the lights (if you get that reference, you da best!) and away we go! July is here! First things first though, we have a playlist to add to. June is about me doing exactly as I please when it comes to MYIM. Why? Because I get older in June and I am, therefore, wiser so my choices are better….maybe. It’s also a month when all the ladies of OMG were up to our eyeballs in work. Wth? But June also means that every song this month gets a little note beside it because it’s fun for me to do them and reminds me why I picked each song in the first place. To me, June is a month about freedom in the very literal sense but also in the sense that we all should have the freedom to love who we love and be who we are at the very core of our being without fear of discrimination or persecution.

Being in July, we are now closer to 2050 than we are to 2000 and, if I need to know that fact, you all do too. But first have a monthly playlist and the full playlist to date for MYIM. We’ll see you real soon. Peace, love. We out!

June 1: Thunder – SEVENTEEN (Alo! Alo! Welcome to June b*tches!)

June 2: New Rules – Dua Lipa (Never forget those rules. They’re there for a reason.)

June 3: Hands to Myself – Selena Gomez (I mean, I could but why would I want to?)

June 4: Daydream In Blue – I Monster (It was in an advert I saw years ago. Can I remember the ad? No, but I remember the song. It was definitely for a car though. Ford, I think?)

June 5: Losing It – FISHER (Because sometimes I genuinely think I am actually losing it)

June 6: Celestial – Ed Sheeran (When it’s the first song you hear during the day, it sticks with you)

June 7: It’s My Life – Bon Jovi (In fact, it is my life and, as such, I can and will do what I want to. Not what others ‘suggest’.)

June 8: Mad – Martin Garrix & Lauv (Martin Garrix + Lauv = instant like from me.)

June 9: You’ve Created a Monster – Bohnes (One of my favourite author attached this song to the title reveal game of her upcoming book so it caught my attention)

June 10: Hollow – Stray Kids (Without reading the translation, I thought this song was sad. When even the music and an entire language barrier can’t hide the real emotion of a song, you know it’s well written, produced and performed.)

June 11: Just Keep Watching – Tate McRae (Because people watch to see you fail so piss them off by being the best and happiest version of yourself)

June 12: Believe – Cher (Released in 1998 and still one hell of a song.)

June 13: Queen of Hearts – Juice Newton (A co-worker of mine enjoys singing at random and this was the song of choice and it got stuck in my brain.)

June 14: Get Ugly – Jason Derulo (This song scratches an itch in my brain that I can’t explain.)

June 15: You Can Call Me Al – Paul Simon (My playlist, my choices. I will accept no judgement)

June 16: Sunday Morning – Maroon 5 (This song pops up at random for me and I still love it.)

June 17: Bits and Pieces (Radio Edit) – Artemesia & Patrick Prins (For when you need to get work done and your banging out the dance tracks, this is my reccommendations)

June 18: There She Goes – CYRIL x MOONLIGHT x The La’s (I liked the original song and I like this one just as much. It’s a feel good song for me.)

June 19: ESCAPE – Stray Kids (Bang Chan & Hyunjin) (It’s about escaping… Yeah sure I’ll believe it thousands wouldn’t)

June 20: Free – Rumi, Jinu, EJAE, Andrew Choi and KPop Demon Hunters Cast (Such a great movie which I will be reviewing with ALL the spoilers next week and that is why I waited so long to review it.)

June 21: Since U Been Gone – Kelly Clarkson (Sing it with me at the top of your lungs: SINCE U BEEN GOOOOONE!!)

June 22: I Will Survive – Gloria Gaynor (An anthem. That is all.)

June 23: Climb – GROUPLOVE (Found it by accident, enjoyed it on purpose.)

June 24: This Love – Taylor Swift (Literally two lines of this song got stuck in my head and then I remembered all the pretty imagery and knew it belonged here.)

June 25: You’ll Always Find Your Way Back Home – Miley Cyrus (Because nothing says peace of mind quite like absolutely banging out the Hannah Montana Movie soundtrack.)

June 26: Make Me Feel – Janelle Monae (Still a vibe)

June 27: Always Love – d4vd & Hyunjin (Just so mellow and such a wonderful collab. ”I don’t need nobody else but you” I mean come on!!)

June 28: Stupid Cupid – Connie Francis (Movie marathon inspired choice but also ‘I look like a moose’ ‘Yes but a very cute moose. Make all the boy moose go whaaaa’)

June 29: Emotionally Hungover – Only The Poets (I’ve become very fond of OTP over the years since Niamh and I first saw them and they deserve having their new release celebrated)

June 30: Born This Way – Lady Gaga (If you can’t guess why this song is here on the last day of Pride Month, I don’t know what to say.)

And that is that. Another month, done and dusted. Another year older. All that’s left to do now is say: OkayIloveyougoodbye!
