Hello Internet, this is OMG calling! To be honest, I don’t actually know who was meant to write the intro this month but you got me (Emma) so: Hi! When I say adulting has brought our blog to a standstill, I genuinely mean it. Niamh took a well earned holiday to enjoy everything Eurovision for almost a whole week and I have been working at least full time (if not more) all month. We are really struggling to find the time and energy to create blog posts that we are happy to publish for you all and we really don’t want to publish sub-par posts just to make it look like we are active. Life has a funny way of making you do the things you HAVE to do and not necessarily the things you WANT to do but it will all come right in the end. We are working to find a balance and these things take time and it’s difficult to prioritise what is important and what we think is important. Deep stuff I know XD
Anyway, with all that said, let’s have a look at our favourite things and picks of the month. Oh! And Welcome to Pride Month x
Book of the Month
E: Hyrule Historia – About the only book I remotely looked at this month so I guess it has to count.
N: ‘Somewhere In The Crowd’ Katrina Logan. You’ll see a common theme in many of my answers this month but, starting it off strong with a cheesy rom com Eurovision themed story. Well worth a read in the middle of the Eurovision season. Kudos to Katrina for using an ABBA song lyric that didn’t win Eurovision as the book title.
Movies & TV
TV Show Picks
E: Queen Charlotte – Trust me when I say that I’ve started saying “Sorrows. Prayers” a lot!
N: I finally sat down and watched Lucifer. Highly recommend it to anyone who hasn’t seen it yet.
Good Movie Recommendation:
E: The Hunger Games – I’ve been watching video essays on YouTube dissecting the whole Hunger Games movies series and I adore the huge variety of notes and little subtleties that different people pick up and it has made my viewing of the movies even better.
N: Guardians of the Galaxy 3… still not okay.
Cheesy Bad Movie Recommendation
E: To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before Trilogy
N: Eurovision Song Contest: A Song Of Ice and Fire
Gaming Picks
E: Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. IT’S HERE! OH MY GOD! IT’S HAPPENING!!! EVERYBODY STAY CALM! STAY F*CKING CALM!
N: Watching and hearing Emma nerd out about Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Music
Single of the Month
E: Padam Padam – Kylie Minogue
N: ‘Before I Fall Apart’ Elle Coves
Album/EP of the Month
E: Midnights (The Til Dawn Edition) – Taylor Swift. This version of the album gave me a Target exclusive Midnights songs ‘Hits Different’ which I adore.
N: ‘Highways and Hurricanes’ Moncrieff. Another powerful EP from Moncrieff, this one holds a special place in my heart. Honestly everyone needs to listen to each sing carefully and take away valuable lessons from it.
Favourite Things
Favourite Thing About May?
E: Honestly, teasing Niamh about a multitude of things over the whole month but mostly for kicking kerbs and one other thing (she knows what it is).
N: Honestly, it was how happy and carefree I was fully embracing the Eurovision fan side of me. Apparently, I was glowing from happiness and honestly it was an unforgettable experience.
Favourite Item of the Month
E: Ice cream because did you know the weather in Ireland has been nothing short of glorious
N: Fans, they are amazing and make sure the air stays hella cool!
Event of the Month
E: No events because I STILL have no social life who needs time off anyway.
N: It has to go to Eurovision Live Semi Final 1! (was it ever going to go to anything else?)
Moment of the Month
E: Being the helpful bestie nabbing tickets while Niamh was in work so she can see Niall Horan and I can go to judge the show’s production and the live vocal performance.
N: “So, can I get your number or, will I write down mine” mortified isn’t even the word and we won’t be living it down anytime soon.
Your Quote of the Month
E: “You can’t always be everyone’s hero but you can pick to be the right people’s villain.”
N: “Sorrow, sorrows… Prayers”
Three things you are most excited about for June
E: My birthday GP weekend even if I won’t be at it in person, hopefully a gig that I can actually go to and maybe, hopefully, some time to rest and recuperate because I am beginning to feel the burnout kicking in. Adulting is hard.
N: School Tour Season being in full swing, the beginning of Festival Season and spending an actual GP weekend with Emma for the first time this season and not being via the phone.
