February 2022 Monthly Round Up

Hello there! It’s been a crazy month and finding the time to blog regularly has been difficult for both of us to say the least. We have been doing our best to post as often as possible but being responsible adults makes it hard. We’re not ready to quit yet though. We will always do our best to keep giving you content that we’re proud of and that we hope interests you as much as it interests us. On a positive note, a lot of places in Ireland have relaxed their mask requirements and life has returned to some level of normality once again. Long may it continue.

However, you are all aware that the world was also appalled by Putin’s attack on the Ukraine this month and, above all else, we want everyone to know we stand with our brothers and sisters in the Ukraine and pray there can be a resolution to the violence occurring in Ukraine in the near future. We just have to say how much we admire the patriotism and courage of the Ukrainian people at this time. Be safe and stay strong. Слава Україні (courtesy of Google Translate)

For now, let’s have a chat about what we loved and liked this February.

Book of the Month

E: Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll because imagining impossible things before breakfast is frabjous and I always love to be reminded that “It’s no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then.”

N: The Orphan’s Song by Lauren Kate. Ahead of Lauren’s new book coming out March 3rd, I decided to dive back into her worlds and writing style again.

Movies & TV

TV Show Picks

E: Once Upon A Time – I started watching because it was on Disney + and Niamh had told me a lot about it. It’s so good! All magic comes with a price!

N: A Discovery Of Witches – Season 3. I may have started it last month but, I finally got to finish the final season of A Discovery of Witches. Phenomenal and a truly just ending.

Good Movie Recommendation

E: House of Gucci – just a fantastic movie with Lady Gaga showing her incredible acting ability again and Adam Driver being stellar as always! Father, Son and House of Gucci. Amen!

N: Ahead of the new Batman movie coming out I sat down and had a bit of a Batman movie marathon. Good movie recommendation this month goes to: The Dark Knight.

Cheesy Bad Movie Recommendation

E: Marry Me – not a bad movie but definitely cheesy. J.Lo and Owen Wilson will never be a pairing I saw coming as the lead couple in a rom com but here it is and there just might be a movie review on the way too.

N: Love Tactics – Netflix cheesy movie. I watched it in the original language with subtitles but, if you are in need of a cheesy rom com this needs to be watched. A grown up John Tucker Must Die but with a blog documenting every step of making a man fall in love with you just to break their heart.

Gaming Picks

E: Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey – Niamh gave me this for Christmas and I’m really getting into the good part of the story now after playing it on and off for a while. It’s also so amazing to see the region I studied during the time I studied it even if it’s a video game.

N: No change this month as I’ve been battling my way through Ruin King: A League of Legends story in my spare time.

Music

Single of the Month

E: Anyone For You by George Ezra. He’s back and he’s released another of those tracks that will take no time to get stuck in your head and I love him for it.

N: ‘Numb Little Bug’ Em Beihold. Although it came out at the end of January, this song became one of my anthems for February. February was rough on many levels but we got through it somehow. Proud of Em and I, somehow we blinked and we got to the end of February.

Album/EP of the Month

E: Love Sux by Avril Lavigne. If you don’t love Avril Lavigne, you’re lying to yourself. Just saying.

N: To Hell and Back by As It Is. My guys are back with their best album to date! Favourites include “I’m Gone” and of course the leading single “IDGAF”. Hopefully, they’ll announce a tour soon.

Favourite Things

Favourite Thing About February?

E: Can I say my favourite thing is that it’s over? Because, honestly, February was a tough ass month for me and I’m glad to see the end of it.

N: Got to take a few days off and headed West to spend it with family. February is one of the easier times to get a nice few days together off work and I took full advantage of it.

Favourite Item of the Month

E: My new red Vans. I love me some unique coloured shoes and my Vans are no different and, to top it all off, they are so comfortable! My new graphic tees are a close second though. Qwertee, I love you really.

N: Hot Water Bottles. The storms were fierce, the weather was bitter and it was cuddle month again.

Event of the Month

E: Wild Youth in the Roisin Dubh. It’s tradition for me to be at any Wild Youth gigs in Galway and I got all proud about the fact that I was standing in a room full of people when, the first time I saw them in the Roisin Dubh, the room had maybe 70 people in it.

N: But just for a moment of madness… After working six days in a row, I decided sleep was not needed and attended the opening of Brown Thomas in Dundrum just to see Wild Youth perform and be reunited with Josh. We had a blast!

Moment of the Month

E: Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J Blige, Eminem, 50 cent and Kendrick Lamar all in the Super Bowl halftime show. That was insane and just so cool but the music was just exceptional.

N: Half-way to the Luas and I realized I forgot to go pick up the Build A Bear Dinosaur for the almost four year old!

Quote of the Month

E: “Be positive” – with the crappy month I had, hearing someone say it plainly and offer comfort was great. So, thank you to the kind humans on the planet who are always willing to just listen and offer support.

N: “Take a moment to breathe or just go into the museum and scream… it’s what I do.” Out of context is the only explanation y’all are getting.

Three things you are most excited about for March

E: Normality, going to see Uncharted with Niamh because they have to do Nathan Drake right or I will riot (expect a review, trust me) and new music from Wild Youth and 5 Seconds of Summer and a reunion gig with the bis. I know it’s not much to be excited about but it’s something.

N: Reunion with Emma! Can you believe we haven’t seen each other in over a month! The moment everyone knows Niamh has been waiting for, a Chasing Abbey gig is happening this month! First one in 2 years and 3 month that I can attend and I cannot wait to see my boys! Lastly, getting back to mayhem with school bookings in work! It’s gonna be a busy March!
