She Wins, I Lose – Ryan Mack Review

I want you to cast your minds back to a time when you were at a Music Gig either at the beginning of 2020 or, 2019. Do you remember the sounds? Do you remember the excitement? Do you remember the fun you had with friends or by yourself bopping along to the music? Do you remember that one song that hasn’t been released yet, but pops into your head at the strangest of times since hearing it? Hopefully you answered yes to all of the above because today’s post is dedicated to a song that makes me relive the night over and over again. It is also THAT SONG that I have been waiting to drop since 2019! I’m talking about Ryan Mack’s newest single ‘She Wins, I Lose’.

We’ve featured Ryan’s previous single ‘Broke’ on the blog back in November but, if you are new to Ryan Mack and his music here is what you need to know: He is a Kildare native who, in previous years was known for being a member for the band ‘Hometown,’ but is known today for his catchy and dance worthy pop numbers! Ryan released his debut single ‘Sofa’ back in 2018 and since then has released a number of singles along with his debut EP ‘Someone Else’. 2020 was an interesting and productive year for Ryan as he focused on writing music, including co-writing the 2020 anthem ‘Fake Fine’ with Robert Grace, and focusing on his social media presence especially Tik Tok; taking it by storm! If you don’t believe us just look up @ryanmackmusic on Tik Tok. Ryan teased at the end of December that he is aiming to drop a new song every month in 2021 so, if you like what you hear, make sure you follow his social media to keep up to date with all his latest releases!

Onto the song itself: ‘She Wins, I Lose’ is an upbeat pop extravaganza that you cannot help but dance along to from the opening section. Taking a step away from the 2020 themed song ‘Broke’, Ryan seems to be heading back to his inspiration from his EP ‘Someone Else’ for his latest single; however, the sound is completely different! ‘She Wins, I Lose’ tells the story of Ryan beginning to think his mind can be changed when it comes to relationships when he meets a certain female! This story is going to strike a chord with many listeners because, as we all know, some of the best relationships in life happen when we aren’t looking for them!

As stated above, I have been waiting a very long time for this song to drop and I was not disappointed! When hearing a song live for the first time in comparison to hearing the studio version first, I always worry that I won’t like the studio version as much as the live version. With ‘She Wins, I Lose,’ for the first time in forever, I adore the songs Studio version as much as I love the Live version! This, dear readers, is extremely rare, so a round of applause for Ryan Mack, he has translated the song in both forms beautifully!

The tempo of ‘She Wins, I Lose’ is infectious and I bet that, by the end of the first chorus, 90% of people will be bopping away either inside their mind or moving their body in time with the music! The lyrics remind me of the teasingly flirty moments you have when you meet someone new that you just know needs to be in your life romantically! Lastly, like many of Ryan’s songs ‘She Wins, I Lose’ sounds like Ryan is having the time of his life performing his song. For this reason alone, you cannot help but smile widely when listening to his music only this time get ready to make the loser sign (L) on your forehead when it gets to the lyrics that give this song its title because:

“Don’t really know what it is, that’s making me lose my mind. That Dress. Those Shoes and Tattoos. She Wins, I Lose!”
