Halloween Party Games

This post is dedicated to the inner child in us all as we all try to plan how exactly we are going to celebrate Halloween this year. For most of my childhood and all of my siblings’, we never went trick or treating because we lived in the middle of nowhere. Instead, my mam became the host with the most and Halloween Party Fun was top of our list! So, as COVID is making Halloween look a little different this year, here are ten ideas to keep the fun going in your household!

Apple Bobbing

The Halloween Game of my childhood. The simplest one too! All you need is a bucket/basin, a number of apples and water. Fill your bucket/basin with water and place the apples in the water. Players take turns to fish out the apples from the bucket/basin only using their mouth!

Flour Game

A messy game for the person who makes the flour tower fall! Place a polo mint, smartie or malteaser on top of a mound of flour. Each player takes a turn to cut the flour mound with a knife. The aim of the game is to not let the treat fall! The person who makes the treat fall off the mound of flour must retrieve it with their mouth!

Monster Guts

I personally think this was my mam’s favourite game to put together when we were younger. You will need a plastic shopping bag, cold cooked spaghetti, jelly, grapes and anything else that would feel gooey and icky to touch. The best prizes to hide among the monster guts is coins.

Mummy Wrap

The Mummy Wrap always ended in fits of giggles in our house! You will need a minimum of two players. One person is the mummy while the second is the mummy wrapper. Using rolls of toilet paper the Mummy Wrapper has 60 seconds to turn the other person into a mummy.

Spider Walking Game

Best done on a tiled floor. You’ll need coloured tape; before you play place said tape in the shape of a spider’s web on the floor. You take turns balancing and walking around the Spider Web without stepping outside the web lines. For additional fun cut out pictures of spiders, ghosts or other Halloween creatures and place them around the web for players to pick up along their web travels.

Witchy Ring Toss

For your witchy ring toss you will need a witch’s hat and packets of glow sticks! Crack your Glow Sticks and make them into necklace size rings (two glow sticks together should do). You have to throw the rings at the witches hat and try get the rings onto the top of the hat!

Pumpkin Patch Stomp

Pick one section of your room to make the pumpkin patch! For this game you will need a lot of orange balloons, a black permanent marker to draw a pumpkin face on each balloon and a reminder to the adults to cover their ears if they don’t like the sound of bursting balloons. The aim of the game is to pop the most pumpkins in 60 seconds.

Halloween Bingo

We usually make our own but you can also buy them premade in the two euro shop, Dealz etc. If you are making your own make sure each card has a different layout of Halloween Monsters, Creatures and items. You need a print out of each picture you are using for the Bingo Caller to call out each picture. First person to get all of their pictures ticked off, shouts Bingo!

Murder Mystery

If you are anyway creative and have a number of family members in the one household this Halloween, why not make your own Murder Mystery? Think Cluedo come to life. If you need any inspiration, do a quick search on Google and Pinterest. This was our favourite thing to organize for Halloween Parties at college!

Board Games/Interactive Board Games

Get everyone involved to pick which board games they want to include in your Halloween Board Game night! We usually choose Cluedo and Atmosphere. Most people know what Cluedo is. Atmosphere was a DVD board game that came out in the mid 2000’s. The gatekeeper is an underworld character who hosts the board game via the DVD while those playing the game play the game on the board with interactive features. It’s a lot of fun and I would highly recommend it or anything similar if you can track them down!
