Will the same days stick out or will we get a fun 12 month round up of 2019? Who knows! So, grab a drink and away we go!

Alongside that, he sat down with the Dolan twins and helped them through a really tough decision that was the best in the long term for them. A real kind soul.

Top New Music find of 2019

E: Saarloos

N: Luz Corrigan

Favourite Gig of 2019

E: Mumford & Sons, Malahide Castle June 2019.

N: Thanks Brother, Whelan’s November 2019.

Favourite Gig moment of 2019

E: Hearing ‘Warm’ by The Coronas live for the first time in Kilkenny and crying like a child.

N: Being the only one singing along loudly to ‘Feisty’ Saarloos during their support slot in Kilkenny for Hudson Taylor. I was the only one standing who was giving it socks!

Favourite song of 2019 that hasn’t been released yet… Will it? Aka perks of #ThatGigLife

“Well that is going to be an easy one for you (Emma), It’s OBVIOUSLY Champagne Butterflies”

“No! Champagne Butterflies, Anywhere with You or Where Are We Now!!! Which one is it going to be!!! Aggghhhhh”

E: …….. Where Are We Now – Wild Youth. I have it recorded on my phone because sometimes songs I like disappear from the setlist never to be seen again. I learned my lesson when ‘All My Life’ disappeared and I got lucky someone else had it. Never. Again.

N: “Take It from Me” – Chasing Abbey. I’m still badly humming along to my 35 second clip from June… Someone do me a favour and make me record the entire of that song if it ever appears on a setlist again!

Song of 2019 for you?

E: ‘Outnumbered’ Dermot Kennedy. (The lines ‘See, I’m in love with how your soul’s a mix of chaos and art And how you never try to keep ‘em apart’ are so real to me. Lyrical genius.)

N: ‘Juice’ Lizzo (just for the amount of times I had to quote ‘Somebody come get this man. I think he got lost in my DMs’ this year…)

Personal:

Sum up the year in three words:

E : Done My Way

N: Year of Challenges

What major life lesson did you learn in 2019

E: “The past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it or learn from it.” Rafiki, The Lion King.

N: ‘Those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind’ Dr. Seuss.

Did you set goals for 2019 and did you achieve them?

E: I achieved one of 4 goals I set this year. I held myself back and to be honest I was disappointed with this year. I can and will do better. There’s a lot to do in 2020. Best to start doing it then.

N: Happy to report about 85% of my goals for 2019 were reached. The remaining will carry on to 2020.

An obstacle/challenge that you overcame this year?

E: Saying how I feel. I’m very slowly but surely becoming more capable of saying how I feel and hopefully, in 2020, I keep getting better at it.

N: The fear of failure.

This year I learned the following about myself?

E: That somethings are easier to do alone and in person. In person is the best way to talk to people.

N: My face might be an open book of my emotions, but sometimes I need to give blunt honesty when I’m not asked for it for people to understand what I am thinking.

This made me laugh the hardest this year?

E: Niamh’s face when she heard a certain person’s voice during a gig after I had just said ‘wait for it’.

N: My brother robbed my high waisted black jeans without knowing they were mine and going out over the Christmas season he kept doing it! He thought mam bought him new jeans! Mam knew all the time they were mine the ones he was wearing, but didn’t say anything until I found out 2 weeks later!

My best memory of the year was?

E: Every moment spent with friends and good music are the best memories to me (cheesy I know, but :P)

N: Honestly I can’t pick just one. Family and friends help create them though!

My biggest regret of the year was?

E: Wasted chances. I’m going to try not let that again too often in 2020. ‘Bring the doubters on, they don’t matter at all’

N: Wasted Time. Time is a gift, don’t take it for granted.

If I could change one thing about this year it would be?

E: I’d change very little but maybe use my down time more wisely

N: Nothing. Everything happens for a reason this year and I have learnt a lot.

This year I travelled to (outside of Ireland)?

E: London, twice.

N: London!

This year I broke out of my comfort zone by:

E: Travelling so much more this year.

N: Going to gigs by myself.

What I am most grateful for this year is:

E: My family, ohana and people who made the effort to understand me.

N: My family and my family that I have chosen for myself.

If I could travel back to the beginning of the year here’s some advice I would give myself:

E: Say it! Just say it!N: Take your time dealing with everything as it comes. The good, the horrible and the middle of the road! You’re head is going to be your own worst enemy. Take your time, there is no set time to have everything figured out!
