Rewrite The Stars, a balancing act.

“Rewrite The Stars”

When you read those three words together what comes to mind? Is it Zac Efron and Zendaya’s epic performance of it during ‘The Greatest Showman’? James Arthur and Ann-Marie’s remastered version of the same song? Or, maybe, that you have the power to pave out your own fate?

For me that song got associated with my feelings for someone until quite recently. Bare with me, this blog post is about how one song can become relevant to all aspects of your life if you are in a certain frame of mind. I also can’t be the only person who does this! The story behind this blog post is simple, October’s Mental Health day and a conversation with friends about our star signs. Our readers may have noticed that we didn’t make a post solely about Mental Health Awareness Day; that’s because we all have our own worries and personal crosses to bare. Like everyone, I have some bad days and many good days. When comparing this to ‘Rewrite the Stars,’ it wasn’t until last week that it clicked… Life is a balancing act. Your worries must be balanced out by positivity. This mindset can be used for all obstacles in life. Jobs? Social life? Family life? Hobbies? Love life? Most definitely!

Hear me out, sometimes that see-saw balancing act becomes too much to bare and you end up in one mindset more than another. I bow down to anyone who constantly has a positive outlook on life, you all are people to look up to. As for the rest of us mere mortals, it is a constant battle between ‘Yes I can do this’ and ‘Maybe this time it’s just not possible.’ Here is where you usually decide once, twice, a hundred or a thousand times over if that risk is worth the fall. As humans, we should always strive for happiness and contentment. Some people are risk takers all of the time without even realising it. Some have to work everyday to push themselves further out of their comfort zone. It might seem extremely sad but, since the beginning of the month, this song has been the most played song on my playlist and phone (Sorry Nialler, Ruthanne and Thanks Brother). Why you might ask? Because I am an “emotional crab.” Here is where my star sign comes into play. I am a Cancer a.k.a. the sign all about their feelings and in tune with their emotions. Apparently, we are open books but I have a question for you. What if this time around I don’t want to be the open book or the closed off, hiding crab? This is where ‘Rewrite the Stars’ remastered by James Arthur and Ann-Marie comes in… when you look at a situation from another point of view you can balance emotions, points of view or even dreams.

Sure, you might have the worst negative feeling that a job interview went horribly or you might feel amazing that family time this month is going splendidly but everything in life until you get it 100% right is going to be a balancing act. Some people may be balancing positivity and negativity for life; some might find the positives in all things and never let it go. I believe the important thing in life is to follow your gut, your dreams and chase everything in life that makes you a better you and makes you happy. For anyone who wants to escape from thinking too much about something even for a little while, I have five points of advice that may help:

1. Make a playlist and listen to music.

2. Go for a walk

3. Write down your thoughts

4. Talk it out with someone

5. Spend some time doing a hobby – Watching TV, sport, knitting, dancing etc.

Honestly, we never know what inner battles someone may be dealing with but with a little help from a kinder mindset of our own, our friends or family, nothing is impossible.

To end this post, I’m going to quote two parts of ‘Rewrite the Stars’ to show everyone goes through the same things and extremely different things all at the same time. For me it is primarily anxiety at the moment. It is:

“We’re able to be just you and me within these walls but when we go outside, you’re going to wake up and see that it was hopeless after all.”

Vs

“It’s up to you and it’s up to me. No one can say what we get to be.”

Edit as of Friday 25th: this post was meant to go up today but, life gets in the way. I wasn’t feeling the ‘Rewrite the Stars’ positivity. All I want to add is don’t live with regret, what ifs or chances you don’t take. Sure it might put your balancing act out of whack but that chance might be worth it. Living with your tongue tied on chances you didn’t take in any aspect of your life because of your anxiety, mental health or anything else is not worth it. So for today and the next little while, sorry to the person who I wasn’t brave enough for this time.

“It’s not a secret I try to hide. But I can’t have you. We’re bound to break and my hands are tied”
